KYWG is hosting an informational web call with some key national cyber team members to give information on CAP Cyber Education, our partnership with Cisco and how cyber programs helped a cadet go on to senior leadership and a career in the AirĀ Force as a Cyber Warrior.

This web call is open to Seniors and Cadets in all Wings, and is especially helpful for Commanders, PAOs and Recruitment and Retention in addition to those interested in cyber activity.

WHEN : Aug 28 from 7PM ET to *8 PM (*may go to 815 if there are still questions being asked)

WHAT : This will be an informational Q and A Session. This is not a training class per se,… This is your chance to find out more about the opportunities for CAP members in Cyber Education and Training

WHO : 3 Members from our National Cyber Team will be on the call to answer your questions. Each will give a 10 min presentation about their roles in CAP Cyber, and what opportunities are out there for you. After a short break there will be a period of 20-30 mins for you all to ask them questions. This is a great opportunity to find out more about what CAP has to offer in Cyber Education and training.

Major Bill Blatchley

Maj Blatchley is the Deputy Director for Education and Awareness on the CAP NHQ National Cyber Mission Team. His responsibilities include securing training material for CAP cadets and seniors as they progress through the cyber field within CAP. He has been a CyberPatriot coach and mentor since CyberPatriot III and has been coach or mentor to 11 different teams over 9 seasons that have gone to the CyberPatriot national finals. Four of those teams reached the podium including two first place finishes in CyberPatriot IV and IX.

Professionally, Maj Blatchley is the owner of a small software development company specializing in airline systems written in the Java programming language. He oversees the requirements analysis, design, programming and testing of critical systems for his airline clients.

Captain Roy Vestal

Capt Vestal is the Director for the CAP Cisco Networking Academy and is a member of the CAP NHQ National Cyber Mission Team. His duties include being the liaison for the CAP/Cisco partnership, recruit instructors, and prepare Cisco Networking Academy courses for all CAP members, cadets and seniors. His other duties for CAP include being the Mid-Atlantic Region Asst Director of Cyber Programs where he works with region staff to create and hold region and wing cybercamps, promote cyber education within the region. He also serves as his squadron ITO and an Asst-DCC in the cadet program. He has been a CyberPatriot coach and mentor since CyberPatriot V and has had at least 1 team in the Platinum division for the past 8 years. His teams have won the state championship 6 of the past 8 years, and region championships 5 of the past 8 years.

Professionally, Capt Vestal is Technical Consulting Engineer for Cisco Systems, Inc, working in the commercial and federal Unified Call Manager Cloud. He is part of the team that designs and manages data centers for customer facing collaboration technologies, and is part of the internal cybersecurity team for the project. His day to day duties include storage and virtualization technical leadership and design, as well as cybersecurity testing and validation

Major Jacob Bixler

Maj Bixler serves as the National Cyber Mission Team Public Affairs Liaison and Public Affairs Officer for Virginia Wing. He is also a former Director of Cadet Programs for Virginia Wing, a former cadet, a staff member of multiple cyber NCSAs, and a Balsem Award Winner. Full time he works in the Department of Commerce’s Office of Cyber Security and is commissioned in the West Virginia Air National Guard (USAF) working in Cyber.
